we keep too much crap and since our flood we plan on getting rid of it and trying hard not to get more of it

Unfortunately I think we all know at least one person like this. I wish it wasn’t so. And, yes, the house would be a fire trap if anything sparked. Let’s hope that never happens.

Yuck! yuck and triple yuck! I have a relative who has a house like that. It’s frightening.
I always worry that if their old electric wiring should spark a fire that they would not be able to get out of the house. It’s horrible.

Oh, glad you didn’t sit on the er…soup can. Very sad indeed to have so much you can’t find the things you enjoy, let alone what you need. I so wish there was more help for people like this.

You, a pack rat? Well, as long as you know where your things are. Being organized is half the battle. I do know a few pack rats but they aren’t horders. There is a big difference.

Those toe socks would be nice. My feet are cold! I hope Santie doesn’t forget.:)

I’ve heard these stories Dorraine, and I have a cousin who has teetered on the edge of this danger most of her life. I’ve not visited her in a while, but the last time I did, when I went to sit on the couch I had to shove things over to find a place. I still ended up sitting on an old soup can. She invited back to her sewing room to show me that she’d started quilting and she used her whole body as a bulldozer to make room in the hallway for us to get there. We were in the sewing room for a full ten minutes before she uncovered the sewing machine. It was pitiful. It’s a million wonders these people don’t get sick more than they do.
I admit it – I am a pack-rat, my name is Deanna, and I am a pack-rat, but I’m conscious enough that I make sure my stuff is organized, and I won’t keep something if I know I can’t use it later. We at least know where to find things when we need them, (except the hubby’s car keys, and that’s another matter entirely).
I couldn’t watch that show – I’d be crying buckets. I can easily picture you in those multi-colored toe socks.
